Torch Mechanic and Coda

from Lost Horizons by Rhomb

/

about

The original elements of this track were recorded in February 2000, and further development and mixing followed in March and April. Strangely, the final section was issued on its own (see eM’s 2001 EP Click Pop), but when I found the original files for Torch Mechanic I realized it was intended as a coda, not a separate track, and so the piece appears here as originally intended. The Torch Mechanic was an idiomatic name for someone that works on starship engines in one of my imagined worlds. I envisioned a long pier jutting out from an asteroid dock, technicians moving to and fro, working to service and light the torches that carry the ships out to the stars.
