Invisibility emerges from a collaboration between Forrest Fang and Carl Weingarten, built on the strong and distinct musical personalities of these two artists. Carl Weingarten displays his assured guitar playing, a unique style that exploits a variety of sounds and a penetrating melodic sensibility. Forrest Fang builds well-balanced arrangements and develops intricate textural tapestries with a sonic palette drawn largely, but not exclusively, from Weingarten's guitar work. The result is a series of enthralling landscapes and tableaux, subtly, but definitively, coloured by the musical insight of Fang and Weingarten. And while the integration of guitar, synthesis and processing may suggest a kind of invisibility in terms of seamlessness, the music is anything but invisible. On first hearing Invisibility is beautifully simple, but repeated listenings will reveal the strong underlying texture and structure that makes this release special.

Carl Weingarten has been releasing work for well over two decades and has 18 solo albums to his credit. If you include his contributions as session musician and producer the figure climbs to over 40. He has explored many guitar styles and incorporated aspects of country, blues, progressive rock and world music into his work, exploring electric, slide, and dobro guitar sounds along the way. Weingarten has worked with many respected musicians, including Fareed Haque, Michael Manring and Forrest Fang, and founded Multiphase Productions in 1980. Weingarten continues to release music and play live regularly.

Forrest Fang is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who has authored a number of albums over the last two decades. His work incorporates both Western and non-Western influences, including minimalism and Chinese classical music, and his work (particularly for Cuneiform Records) has explored various aspects of progressive and world music. Fang has also appeared on the recordings of well known artists, including Robert Rich and Carl Weingarten, and he continues to release albums through the Projekt label.
