Red Line

from Miscellany by Michael Bentley

/

about

During the year of our engagement, I enjoyed several extended visits to Boston, where my fiancee (now wife) Susan lived at the time. During one of these visits we found a strange small electric organ at a yard sale. Over the following weeks and months I noodled on it a lot when in Boston, and this piece evolved from those improvs. The field recordings are from the various T stations on the Red Line, where I sat and attempted to play my piece. Recorded in 1999.
