Prospero's Uncharm

from The Tempest EP by Susan Worland & Michael Bentley

/

about

This particular recording was played during the final act of the play, and we combined the swirling melody with electronic sounds to represent Prospero's "uncharming" of himself, whereby he abandons his magic. The melody here is that of The Agincourt Song, a 15th century popular song praising the great English victory, as published in Samuel Pepys' Library and Percy's Reliques Book IV in the 18th century.
