Arche (plural archai) is an archaic Greek word meaning beginning, origin, or source of action. When used by philosophers, arche designates the source (or root) of things that exist, first principles that are themselves intangible, but provide conditions for the possibility of a thing. The archai form the structure that is no structure, a warp and weft that imply the universe. This project is my meditation on the archai as I see them – forces not of the creation itself, but of the following period wherein the universe begins to precipitate, where moments separate themselves from eternity, and singularities manifest from plurality. At once harmonic and dissonant, the miasma of archai struggles to resolve itself into the world we know, a struggle still ongoing, never truly complete. And all the while, we must remember that the Titans remain chained within the bowels of the Earth.

The Foundry was begun, originally, as an outlet for Michael Bentley's chapbooks in the mid-80s. It grew to include audio releases in the mid-90s, and now serves as an umbrella for artistic ventures from Bentley and his collaborators.
